General Tour Information
The Governor's Residence is open for public tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the months of April, May, June, September and October. Tours are conducted by professional docents at no charge, however, reservations are required and can be made by calling the tour line at 717-772-9130.
Scheduling Your Tour To schedule a tour, call 717-772-9130. Please have the following information ready when you call:
- Preferred date and time
- Name of group
- Number of visitors
- Legislative District (if applicable)
- Mailing address and telephone number
- Physical disabilities (The Governor’s Residence meets ADA requirements)
Parking Tour parking is available directly in front of the Governor’s Residence on Second Street. Daily parking passes will be issued upon arrival by a Capitol Police Officer Bus parking is available on the south side of Maclay Street, east of the Residence Guard House.
Guided tours Are offered by professional volunteer docents and last approximately 40-45 minutes. Your tour through the Governor’s Residence and Gardens will include:
- The Jane Shafer Rose Garden (weather permitting)
- The Richard C. von Hess Gardens (weather permitting)
- The State Rooms
- Current Art Exhibit in State Rooms
- The South Hall
- The Governor’s Library
- The Grand Hall
- The Mellon Parlor
- The Erie Room
- The Family Dining Room
Arrival Information All tour groups should arrive approximately ten minutes prior to their scheduled tour time. The tour leader should check in with the officer-in-charge at the southeast gate on arrival. Tour groups must gather outside the southeast gate and enter the Residence grounds as a group.
