Trevose, Bucks County
One of at least 113,000 seniors who had property taxes completely eliminated in 2007, Connie called the property tax relief she received “heaven-sent” when meeting the Governor. 

In 2008, an estimated 123,500 residents could have property taxes eliminated when tax relief from slots gaming combines with the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program.

 

 

 

Leonard & Mary Blihar 
Nanticoke, Luzerne County
The Blihars, like hundreds-of-thousands of other Pennsylvania seniors, made too much money to qualify for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program before the Taxpayer Relief Act of 2006 expanded eligibility requirements.  The first year they were eligible for the rebate program, the Blihars received a 23 percent rebate on their property taxes.

Nearly 35,000 Luzerne County residents qualify for Property Tax/Rent Rebates for tax year 2008.

New Castle, Lawrence County
This western Pennsylvania couple also qualified for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program for the first time in 2006.

Walter & Marilyn Sondermann
Drexel Hill, Delaware County
The suburban Philadelphia couple qualified for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program only after increased income eligibility limits took effect. 

More than 20,000 Delaware County residents qualify for Property Tax/Rent Rebates for tax year 2008.

Nanticoke, Luzerne County
Nellie received a property rebate for tax year 2006 that was 43 percent higher than the rebate she received the previous year, due to an expansion to the program so many seniors rely on for property tax relief.

More than 6,500 Luzerne County residents could have 2008 property taxes completely eliminated when the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program combines with general property tax relief from slots gaming.

Schuylkill County
This Schuylkill County resident received a property tax rebate in July 2007 that was $50 higher than the rebate she received the previous year.

More than 17,600 Schuylkill County residents qualify for Property Tax/Rent Rebates for tax year 2008.

Erie
This Erie couple qualified for property tax relief under the program’s 2006 expansion and received their first rebate check in July 2007.

More than 15,800 Erie County residents qualify for Property Tax/Rent Rebates for tax year 2008.

 

 


 

Joe & Sara Paravati
Pittsburgh
The Paravatis experienced an increase in annual income in 2006 that would have prohibited the couple from qualifying under the old Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program income eligibility requirements. However, since the program was expanded for the 2006 tax year, the Paravatis received their annual rebate check in July 2007.

More than 66,800 Allegheny County residents qualify for Property Tax/Rent Rebates for tax year 2008.

This northeastern Pennsylvania resident received a property tax rebate check for the first time in the fall of 2007.
 


 

Nicholas & Louise Conjar
Steelton, Dauphin County 
The south-central Pennsylvania couple received a 22 percent rebate on their property taxes in October 2007, the first year they were eligible for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program.

An estimated 9,800 Dauphin County residents qualify for Property Tax/Rent Rebates for tax year 2008.

Pittsburgh, Allegheny County
This southwestern Pennsylvania couple received a 10 percent rebate on their property taxes in the fall of 2007.  They did not qualify for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program until the 2006 program expansion.
